Floating Bluetooth Speaker Review

Portable speakers have become the new iHome for me.  I remember when the iHome first came out.  I was super excited; I didn’t have to play music on my phone and laptop anymore and could have the volume as high as I want.  I also had a radio and an alarm clock included.  Of course, like all things, my iHome had a life span.  My iHome was there for me during my college years and a couple of years afterwards, and I was very happy with it.  Didn’t shop around for another one for a while, until I saw portable speakers everywhere I went: parties, the park, friend’s places, and electronic stores.  I thought it was a brilliant idea. So, I was scrolling through Amazon and came across the mars levitating speaker by Crazybaby.  It was a floating bluetooth speaker that I was extremely excited about.  I’m a sucker for “extra,” so I was enthused to have my hands on this device asap.  This is a review on the floating bluetooth speaker by Crazybaby.  This floating speaker review will cover company info, features, usage, pros and cons, questions, and general conclusion.  If you’re just looking for a quick, to the point run through, start on the pros and cons section.

floating bluetooth speaker

Company

Crazybaby is a startup company founded by Allen Zhang and Steven Zhu.  Both founders have been in the audio device industry for 10 years. They wanted to create something different that the industry had never seen before, and they thought of a flying speaker.

Features

These floating bluetooth speakers have Bluetooth 4.0 software, which will connect to any device, and the user can control the speaker from 33 feet away.  They have 360ﹾ sound projection, where you can hear your music loud and clear from all directions.  Besides being portable, Crazybaby’s floating bluetooth speaker is made with IPX& standard, which makes the speaker waterproof under 3 feet of water at the most.  It can handle outdoor weather as well since it’s made with aircraft grade aluminum.  It has low battery sensory and built-in charge.

Usage

The floating speaker is a little heavy, and the packaging reminded me of an apple product.  Everything inside the box was well package and nothing was damaged or missing.  The speaker has a nice build and design.  I had the choice of three colors, black, gray, and white, and I chose the black color.  I tested the floatable bluetooth speaker as soon as I removed it from the package.  I connected it to my phone easily and the levitation works very well, and you can tell a lot of work went into it.  I put my speaker on a stable surface to ensure that nothing wobbles and everything worked out smoothly.  The one thing I did not too much care for about the magnetic speaker is the clicking sound it makes.  You can hear it when the speaker lowers and raises the little spacecraft.  It wasn’t terrible, where I wanted to send it back, so I kept it.

The Mars levitating speaker has very good sound quality, better than some other speakers out there.  The Mars speaker is technically two speakers, so from now on the base speaker will be referred to as Mars base and the spacecraft will be Mars craft.  The Mars craft outputs most of the sound between the two.  I never had an issue with muddled sound, regardless of sound complexity.  With the magnetic bluetooth speaker, the Mars craft produces the high frequency sounds, while the Mars base produces the low frequency sounds, but not vice versa.  You can use the Mars craft by itself. It produces a good some, better than some speakers on the market.  The lowest frequency the Mars craft can produce is 10Hz, while the Mars base can produce as low was 50Hz.

I utilized this levitating bluetooth speaker at a party I was hosting, and of course, my speaker was one of the main attractions.  Besides the fly speaker, people really like the sound of it and how they were able to hear it clearly no matter where they were in my house.  I was able to control the floating bluetooth speaker no matter where I was, and I did not have to yell or scream over a crowd of people either.  I actually used the Crazybaby app on my iPhone.  I could control the proximity volume, shuffle music, and control the music in each room.  I didn’t hear the mechanical sound the speaker was making, so the bluetooth floating speaker was perfect for the party atmosphere.  I had a speaker outside on the patio, and an unexpected weather change happened.  It rained earlier that day, so I thought there wasn’t going to be any more rain, thanks to the weather man.  That was not the case.  I ran out to get the speaker, since the patio was uncovered, and ran back into the house.  I was very happy that the speaker still worked and the waterproof technology lived up to its standards.

I bought two speakers upon purchase, because I wanted one for the house and another one for my patio, since I have a lot of parties and small hang outs throughout the year.  Pairing the two speakers together was easy, but the sounds they make when paired is not the most pleasant, and it’s not the best representation of what the actual sound quality of speaker is.  I am able to control the levitating bluetooth speakers inside the house and on the patio, and I still good quality.  I did have to adjust the EQ settings a little to have a better quality of sound when playing the speakers together in the same room.

As far as the app, as stated above, I can control the speaker with the Crazybaby app and everything I need is there.  The only downside to this is I can’t control anything on the speaker using the speaker itself.  They Crazybaby magnetic bluetooth speaker in feature and function is a basic speaker. I can’t ask about the weather or ask the speaker to set a time, which is fine.  That’s what I have a smartphone for, and I only wanted a speaker that plays audio.
